Sylvia Waltering, Manchester, UK

World Famed Hooks and Eyes, 2007

A collection of photographs by Sylvia Waltering of clips and clasps, hooks and eyes, dishcloths and pyjamas, a homage to the domestic world of the 1950s and 60s and particularly to ‘Newey’s’ manufacturers of the “world famed” hooks and eyes. A nostalgic tome crisply printed on matt black paper and pamphlet stitched to give the impression of a text book.

Sylvia Waltering was born in Germany in 1977. She studied at Manchester Metropolitan University, gaining an MA in Communication Design before becoming a Lecturer in Photography in 2008 at Manchester School of Art. She collaborates on book projects with Lucy May Schofield under the umbrella of the Battenburg Press.

12 pages, 210 x 147mm, edition of 20 signed by the artist.
